The Claude Duet setup guide
Claude Duet is Anthropic's new agent. It messages you first, works while you're away, and asks before it sends, pays or signs. It launched on 21 October as a research preview, by invite only.
1Pro or Max, in the US, with an invite
You need three things:
- a Claude Pro or Max plan,
- a Claude account in the US,
- an invite from the waitlist.
It isn't on Team or Enterprise plans yet.
2Join the waitlist
- Go to claude.com/product/claude-duet and tap "Join the waitlist".
- Use the same email as your Claude account.
- Pick your plan and your phone (iPhone or Android).
- Optional: say what you do and what you'd hand off first. Be specific.
- Tap Submit.
Invites go out in waves, by email. When yours lands, open it on your phone and sign in with your Claude account. Use the Apple or Google account tied to that same email.
3Connect these first
Duet uses the apps you've already connected in Claude. So connect them before your invite arrives.
- Gmail and Google Calendar. Your morning brief is built from these. Without them it has nothing to brief you on.
- Your money app: QuickBooks or Stripe. Invoice reminders are one of Anthropic's own examples, and that's where your invoices live.
- Your CRM: HubSpot, so it knows who your clients are when it writes a briefing.
- Docusign or Calendly if your work runs on contracts or bookings.
Microsoft 365 isn't supported yet.
4The first three jobs to hand it
- The morning brief. Let it read your inbox and calendar and tell you what needs you today.
- Invoice reminders. Ask it to draft reminders for anything overdue. It asks before it sends each one.
- Client briefings. Before a call, ask it for a one-page brief on that client.
Start small. It still misreads a thread sometimes, and it can get urgency wrong. Anthropic says so themselves.
5What it asks first, and what it never does
Before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it asks you. It won't trade securities, move money between accounts, or call or text anyone. And it never sees your passwords.
It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and uses your plan's normal limits, background check-ins included.
6Outside the US, or not on Pro or Max?
You can't get Duet yet, and Anthropic hasn't said when that changes.
But the idea under it isn't locked to one app. It sends you a brief every morning, checks in every few hours and sends nothing without your yes. You can build that today with Claude Code and a scheduled job on your own computer. That's how my own agent runs.
Reply to my DM if you get stuck.
